THE BEGINNING OF THE ROAD
Ahmed Shamseldin, began his career in shipping in 1975, at the Commercial Department of Alexandria Shipping and Marine services. He developed a true love for the industry from the start.
PARTNERSHIP
Partnership with Overseas Shipping & Trading Company. The company owned and operated 3 commercial vessels registered under the Egyptian Flag. It was at Overseas Shipping where he began collaborating with Mrs. Mona Abdelaziz in 1981, who is currently heading the chartering department for ASMCO.
PARTNERSHIP TRANS NAVAL COMPANY IN SPAIN
From Overseas, he broke into the international market, becoming a partner in Trans Naval Company in Spain, owning and operating 2 foreign registered commercial vessels. He continued to develop and build his first class reputation and relationships in the Mediterranean market.
PARTNERSHIP WITH ANOTHER COMPANY
Then in 1991 he launched a partnership at Universal Shipping Company, owning and operating 2 commercial vessels registered under the Egyptian Flag. At Universal he connected with two future ASMCO leaders, Hosni Zakaria who now manages all port operations, and Sherif Abdelhady who currently is the Chief Accountant.
ASMCO ESTABLISHMENT
In 1997 Mr. Shams founded Arab Spanish Maritime Company. ASMCO became the flagship company that was a culmination of all his previous experience in the industry. The company started as a private agency mainly, and over the years has expanded to encompass other divisions within the shipping industry, with impeccable operations, and unparalleled integrity.
BEING ONE OF THE BEST IN THE REGION
Currently ASMCO is being directed by Mr. Shams’ daughter, Yasmin Shamseldin, and Vice Chairman Mohammed Shalaby who has been with ASMCO since 2001. The ASMCO team embodies a collaborative experience of over 65 years in the industry, and they continue to build their reputation upon ideals that Mr. Shams lay as the foundation; integrity & professionalism.
